Direct Sponsored Scholarship Program

Would you like to encourage a future industry leader to continue their studies and to enter into our fast paced, demanding and exciting industry?

Would you like to make a contribution that will help the future of the hospitality, lodging, foodservice and tourism industry?

If the answer is yes to the above questions, then you have come to the right place.

On an annual basis companies and individuals within the hospitality, lodging, foodservice and tourism industry donate funds directly to the Canadian Hospitality Foundation Direct Sponsored Scholarship Program. The funds are allocated to a scholarship designated by the donating company or individual(s). This is an excellent opportunity for companies and individuals to be able to support the future of their industry with the full value of their donation.

Donations for the Direct Sponsored Scholarship Program start at $1,000 and can go as high as you wish in increments of $500 ($1,000, $1,500, $2,000 etc.) We suggest that the limit for a single scholarship be $5,000, but you are of course welcome to make a larger donation and spread the funds out to two or more scholarships. The choice is yours!

As a Direct Sponsored Scholarship donor you have the opportunity to choose which category of scholarship that you would like to create whether it be culinary, hospitality or food and beverage. See the Create a Direct Sponsorship section for more information.

We are very proud of our Direct Sponsored Scholarship donors and we therefore like to showcase them where we can. Each donor is listed on our Direct Sponsored Scholarship donor page in the fundraising Gala’s evening program, listed here on our website with a link back to the organization’s website and of course the name is on the certificate that is presented to the scholarship winner. All donations also receive a tax receipt for the allowable donated amount as stipulated by the Canada Revenue Agency.

If your donation is less than $1,000 we would like to suggest our Group Sponsored Scholarship Program.

Group Sponsored Scholarship Program:
With our Group Sponsored Scholarship Program you can make a donation as small as $50. Your name and your donation will be accumulated into a Group Sponsored Scholarship. Once the value of your group scholarship reaches $1,000 it is closed and awarded to a scholarship recipient. The Canadian Hospitality Foundation will select the category of scholarship and allocate the scholarship to an appropriate participating school. Each donor who participated in the Group Sponsored Scholarship will be mentioned in our Gala program, on our website and of course to the winner themselves. All donations also receive a tax receipt for the allowable donated amount as stipulated by the Canada Revenue Agency.

Financial Endowments:
A financial endowment is a donation of money (or property) to a nonprofit or charitable organization for the ongoing support of that organization. Typically the endowment is structured so that the principal amount is kept intact while the investment income is available for use, or part of the principal is released each year, which allows for the donation to have an impact over a longer period than if it were spent all at once.

The Canadian Hospitality Foundation is a registered charity. Grant Thornton LLP audits the foundation annually and all funds are managed by BMO Nesbitt Burns.

If you are interested in providing an endowment to the Canadian Hospitality Foundation while you are living or through your will, please contact the foundation office directly.
