Cindy Simpson
Director

Cindy has always worked in the food service industry beginning as early as her high school and university days. In those days she worked part time in and around her academic schedules in a number of different restaurants. But the significant part of her career began when Neil Vosburgh, the owner of Imago Restaurants, Inc., recruited her to run his flagship restaurant – The Duncan Street Grill.
As Imago Restaurants Inc. grew, she grew with it. The first step up saw her as Vice-President, Grills – in charge of the four restaurant operations. In this role she focussed on operational excellence and the recruitment and development of managerial level personnel. Later she became Vice-President Marketing – a role in which, while retaining the former responsibilities, she began to focus on tailoring the offerings of each restaurant and pub to the demands of its community. This approach became the marketing strategy for our company and remains so, to this day.
Today, she is the Executive Vice-President of Imago Restaurants, Inc. Essentially she runs the company on behalf of the owner/president. Each pub or restaurant is run by a General Manager who reports to her. She provides leadership and guidance focussing on operational efficiency, neighbourhood marketing and managerial development.
Cindy holds an honours degree in English Literature from York University. She has also profited from a number of excellent courses and programs at the Cornell School of Hotel and Restaurant Management and studied Marketing at Toronto Metropolitan University. And in a demonstration of leadership to her kitchen personnel, she registered in the provincial culinary program and successfully earned her chef’s papers.
Since 2014, Cindy has served on the board of Restaurants Canada—now in her final year—where she spent eight years on the Executive Committee, including terms as Vice Chair and Chair. Since 2017, she has also sat on the board of Groupex Canada (a forprofit subsidiary of Restaurants Canada), where she currently serves as Chair.
